Egypt shutting down their internet access

"Confirming what a few have reported this evening: in an action unprecedented in Internet history, the Egyptian government appears to have ordered service providers to shut down all international connections to the Internet. Critical European-Asian fiber-optic routes through Egypt appear to be unaffected for now. But every Egyptian provider, every business, bank, Internet cafe, website, school, embassy, and government office that relied on the big four Egyptian ISPs for their Internet connectivity is now cut off from the rest of the world. Link Egypt, Vodafone/Raya, Telecom Egypt, Etisalat Misr, and all their customers and partners are, for the moment, off the air."

Facebook changes

As of today, the new Facebook privacy setting called "Instant Personalization" goes into effect.
The new setting shares your data with non-Facebook websites & it is automatically set to "Enabled".
To disable: Go to Account>Privacy Settings>Apps & Websites>Instant Personalization>edit settings & uncheck "Enable".
Apparently if your friends have this enabled, their profile will be sharing your information too. So it's best to pass this on and try to get as many of your friends as possible to disable this new feature.

Diaspora is a new social networking website being developed which intends to provide its users with control over their information, and this is what makes it stand out from various other social networking sites. Diaspora will not expose your information to advertisers or other websites, and you retain full ownership of any photos, friends, or information you put on the web site.

As it is still under development, the service is not yet publicly available. Following the link at the top of this post will take you to a page which enables you to request an invite. There is no guarantee that you will receive one in a short period of time, but it's worth requesting one as early as possible.

EteRNA is game that's becoming very popular amongst my circle of friends.

Once creating an account, you are able to play the "game" in which you must design RNA sequences that fold up into a target shape on your computer. The beauty of this game is that you learn about RNA as well as eventually contributing to the project's purpose, which is to create the first large-scale library of synthetic RNA designs.

I found it easy at the start, but it soon became quite tricky once I moved onto the challenges. Be sure to check it out. Have fun, learn, and contribute!
